Snowboarding Firsts

When i was younger i ate, breathed and lived to ski. I cut out every article i could find. Got travel mags for all the famous ski destinations and poured over how to be a better skier. I would close my eyes and imagine hurtling down the slopes, dodging through the trees whilst firing at the bad guys ….. thanks James bond. Just one small problem. I lived in South Africa, as far away from the snow covered pistes of Verbier as you can get and no money to get there. I was 10 and snowboarding was a looong way into the future.

I never did get to ski but 30 years later i eventually got my first snowboard lesson under the belt. A bit late? Never! Everything in its time i believe. For my 40th birthday i was given  a 3 hour snowboard lesson at the Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead indoor slope. This video clip is our last run down the slope. I’m in black and we are so going back in a few weeks. I hear the mountains calling.
